Yes! Federal law allows you one free copy of your credit report from each of the three main credit bureaus every 12 months. You can request your free report online, by mail or by phone.
Go to AnnualCreditReport.com and provide your complete information and you can get an electronic copy of your credit report.
Or, if you don’t have time to do it online, you will still need the request form from their website, print it, fill it out and mail it to the address provided. Or, you can do it all by phone.
You want to be sure all of your account and personal information is accurate; otherwise your credit rating and credit score could suffer. You also want to be sure your positive efforts are recorded and noted as well.
Also, by law, you can get a free credit report if your application was denied for credit, insurance, or employment and you ask for your report, (in writing) within 60 days of denial - the address should be printed on the denial notice.
After the denial of any application that was based on your credit report, the denying party should send you written notice which will have instructions and the address of the credit bureau. If not, you can go online to get their addresses, but they are not the same address as FreeAnnualCreditReport.com
